AIT Sensor

It stands for Air Inlet Temperature. It measures the air temperature going into the engine.

The car needs to know the temperature so it can adjust the fuel so it doesn’t run rich or lean. As you know, hot air has a lower oxygen capacity by volume compared to colder air.

Removal

Check the air inlet manifold, just below the word “Mercedes” you’ll see the AIT sensor.

You’ll have to disconnect the electrical connector first as this makes room for the tabs to be pinched in to unclip the sensor.

The electrical connector has a tab on the underneath that you push in and pull the connector out.

With the electrical connector out of the way, you can press in the side tabs and pull it from the manifold.

There you go, sensor removed. The smart number is A 0005422818.
