It’s made worse because there’s a lot of people with failed crankshaft sensors on the 450 and Roadster model so people generally give incorrect location info.
The 451 crankshaft rotation sensor is a lot more reliable than the ones fitted to previous models and that’s mainly down to cooling. The old 450 and Roadster models had the sensor hidden, tucked down the side of the engine with very little air flow, so they would fail due to the heat. The majority of crankshaft rotation sensors I have seen failing were on American smarts. I have no explanation as to why.
451 Petrol
The 451 Petrol model has a far easier to access sensor. It’s bolted to the engine directly next to the oil filter.
Throw yourself under the rear of the car. To remove the sensor is 1 electrical connector and 1 bolt. Then the sensor slides out the engine.

451 Diesel
The 451 diesel engine is the same engine in the 450 so unfortunately the crankshaft sensor on this model is terrible to get to. It’s underneath the high pressure fuel pump and trapped between the engine, gearbox and intercooler.
