Sadly I can no longer send free merch outside of the UK. Things have just become ridiculous over the years.
I started sending stuff out in 2021. By 2025, the postage cost had increased by over 300%. It would cost me £0.79 back in 2021 to send a letter. It’s now £3.20 !
Germany introduced LUCID packaging laws which makes senders sign up and pay for recycling for everything they send.
NordPost ignore the information and pricing on the CN22 label and attempt to charge €27 import duty to the receiver.
Most EU postal carriers either try to charge import duties, return packages as undelivered, lose or take months to actually deliver letters.
I think they are still butt hurt about Brexit. When they try to charge fees, the recipient obviously refuses the letter and it returns to me. I complain, they tell me to ask for a refund for the postage (impossible from Royal Mail) and tell me that import duties shouldn’t have been charged and it was a mistake. But then they do it again and again.
Canada has so many postal strikes.
America changed their tariffs so regularly that, by the time a letter gets there, the tariff has changed. Again, items are either being returned, disposed or the recipient charged ridiculous import fees.
So, between the UK postage rip off prices and other countries being totally unable to run a postal service properly, it’s far too much agro to bother any more. Sorry about that.
