I don’t have a 453 turbo so I can’t show it being done on the car yet. But I do have a turbo for the 453. The arrowed black box is the recirculating valve. It’s coming off.

Remove the 3x Torx30 bolts…

…that are located around the outside.

The recirc valve just pulls off. You don’t even need to unplug the connector if you don’t want to.

This is the Forge Motorsport adapter. This is the part that quite a few other companies have badly copied.

Place the spacer onto the turbo so the bolt holes line up. It will only fit on in 1 direction.

Place the recirc valve on top of the spacer…

…and bolt it down securely with the longer bolts that are supplied in the kit.

That’s it, you’re ready to go.
Here’s a photo of it fitted thanks to Mark Y.

He removed the air inlet pipe for better access and found that 1 of the bolts to the actuator was a bit tricky.
Is This Suitable For A Smart?
Yes. This turbo is used in a few Renault and Nissan models and thankfully, Forge remembered my calculations regarding the balancing of air flow and made the outlets slightly smaller than 1/3rd the area of the turbo outlet. This will stop the impeller from stalling and also stop it from over running when the valve opens.
