Speedo And Stereo Not Showing The Time?

If your speedo is showing -:– instead of the time, you might also notice that you have the R-Link touchscreen stereo and that is also showing –:– instead of the time. In which case, you should follow this link to the fix.

I Have Fitted An Aftermarket Stereo

I you have fitted an aftermarket stereo and now only the speedo shows no time.

It’s very easy to code the car to show the time again.

Why Does It Do That?

The car has been told that the time will be controlled by the original stereo. Its job was to get the time via GPS and send that data to the speedo. However, if you have fitted a different stereo, it doesn’t know it’s supposed to be telling the time to the speedo, hence why the speedo shows nothing for the time.

Thankfully, there is a different stereo that doesn’t get the time through GPS. You set the time manually through the steering wheel controls and that’s all. So luckily it’s fairly easy to tell the car that it doesn’t have the GPS time option and that will enable the clock menu on the speedo so you can set it manually.

Coding The Clock Option

Scan the car through the CAN bus and allow the boxes on the left to fully populate. Double click Cluster X07 from the 2nd box down.
