Despite being in the manual, very few people know that you can lock the bonnet/hood on the 453.
Look at the front of the car, over to the nearside, you’ll see a hole.

Put your key into the hole (it won’t go in very far) and use the key to lever this cover out.

It can help and give you more room if you open the latch but it’s not necessary.

Once the cover is out of the way, you can see the key lock behind it.

Place in the key to the car…

…make sure the bonnet latch is closed (because you don’t want to lock it in the open position)…

…and twist the key a quarter turn anticlockwise (counter clockwise).

Remove the key and refit the cover. The bonnet catch is now locked so won’t swing open.

Therefore the bonnet is locked in place.
