On the 22nd of February 2007, all the CDI owners who registered interest in an X-Gauge got the long awaited email from Welte Engineering.
The Email
The X-Gauge for the smart fortwo cdi is finally available. It has been successfully tested with a 2005 cdi in Canada and a 2006 cdi in Switzerland. The website will soon get updated so that the cdi can also be selected in the order form. It was confirmed that it only works on 2004 and onwards fortwo diesels.
The X-Gauge will display the following engine parameters as delivered by the ECU of a cdi:
- Number of stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Engine Load
- Coolant Temperature
- Intake Pressure
- Engine RPM
- Vehicle Speed
- Intake Air Temperature
In addition to the above, it will also display the following data:
- Time
- Date
- Battery Voltage
- Inside Temperature
- Current Mileage
- Average Mileage
- Maximum Vehicle Speed
- Acceleration
- Maximum Acceleration
- Turbo Cool-Down Time
The cdi version of the X-Gauge firmware will even show you a cdi logo next to the picture of a smart fortwo during the startup animation.
