Fortwo
Before starting, you have to remove the lower boot flap.
![](/wp-content/uploads/smartexterior/panels/453/rear/rear1.jpg)
Remove the 5x Torx30 bolts found along the top edge of the bumper.
![](/wp-content/uploads/smartexterior/panels/453/rear/rear2.jpg)
Below the reflectors are a single Torx20 screw to remove.
![](/wp-content/uploads/smartexterior/panels/453/rear/rear3.jpg)
Underneath the edge of the lower valance is another Torx20 screw on each side to remove.
![](/wp-content/uploads/smartexterior/panels/453/rear/rear4.jpg)
Using the Torx20 again, look in the rear arch…
![](/wp-content/uploads/smartexterior/panels/453/rear/rear5.jpg)
…and remove the screw from both sides of the car.
![](/wp-content/uploads/smartexterior/panels/453/rear/rear6.jpg)
You can now pull the bumper sideways to unclip it from the car. Clips can break but they aren’t important.

If you have rear parking sensors, you’ll have an electrical connector on the left. Disconnect it.
![](/wp-content/uploads/smartexterior/panels/453/rear/rear8.jpg)
Then the bumper is loose and can be removed from the car.

Forfour
Open the boot to reveal a bolt on both sides. Remove them both.

Remove the rear lights and you’ll see plastic screw clips under each one. Unscrew the centre and pull it out.

Thanks to Andy E for the photo.
The rest of it is similar to the fortwo so have a look further up the page.
